Empower Your Mind
Elevate Your Life –
Self-Care, On Your Terms.

Project overview
(January 1st – March 20th 2024)
Up - A self healing journal is my thesis project, and the app and website was developed as an extension of this outcome. After developing an app and website, for the next two projects it only seemed fitting to bring to life my thesis project in the form of a digital app and website in order to extend it further than just a book.
Problem
The product should create a seamless, motivating experience that empowers users to explore self-care, emotional growth, and stress relief in a positive, accessible way.
Goal
The goal is to create an engaging and supportive space where users of all ages can benefit from stress relief and emotional support, making therapy feel approachable and enjoyable through playful interactions tailored to various needs and preferences.

Lemonade Stand was a font I came across by chance while searching for the perfect font to complete the logo. Playful, giving the feel of a doodle, this font was perfect to use in the logo for a project for a self help journal
The text used for all the headings (H2) is a very elegant font called Time burner. This font gives the feel of being curvy and playful even without being a serif font which is why I picked it
The body text for the app is Glacial Indifference, a Sans-serif font that I used to give the interface a clean finish and easy visibility.

summary
To understand user frustration, needs, and preferences, I conducted interviews and surveys for my project. The goal is to create an accessible, user-centered experience that encourages positive mental health and emotional well-being, catering to users of various age groups and needs. The platform should be intuitive, inviting, and support users in feeling empowered and uplifted through personalized activities and progress tracking.
Pain points
Therapy, while a tried and tested method might not always be the best option for the user. The user might start relying on it as a crutch, and will not feel motivated to overcome their mental health on their own. The app often focus on building self-reliant coping mechanisms and fostering self-compassion, helping users feel empowered to manage their mental health independently and gain confidence in their own resilience.
A lot of people do not have the time to schedule lengthy face-to-face appointments with therapists due to their hectic life. An app will allows users to engage in therapeutic activities at their own pace and schedule, making it ideal for people with hectic lifestyles who may find it hard to commit to regular therapy appointments.
Lack of a supportive home environment could often result in the person not getting the help they need, but an app could provide a discreet, self-guided experience that can be used without the need to involve others, ensuring a safe space for self-growth.
A huge lack of the sense of community is present in cases of finding help with an individual therapist. The app offers community forums or support groups where users can connect anonymously with others experiencing similar struggles, helping to build a sense of support even when family or friends may not be available or understanding.
